2021 RBC Wrestling

The RBC program has been trending upwards in recent years, and looks like they will continue to do so in 2021. There's a good mix here of young stars, hungry seniors, and another injection of promising freshmen, spread throughout the lineup.

For a while, the Caseys incoming freshmen classes usually came into the program without a whole lot of experience. That has changed in recent years, and this season is no different as several frosh come in off of successful middle school careers. Among those frosh looking to contribute in the lower half of the lineup are Anthony Gaetano, Marco Conroy, and VJ Muscillo. There are five starters back down low to help provide leadership to the newcomers in senior Anthony Donnelly, sophomore Chris Bracco, and juniors Trevor Learn, Ryan Brown, and Dan Conroy.

The upper half of the lineup has the potential to be a big strength for the Caseys. Sabino Portella is the big name returning here. He is coming off a terrific freshman year that saw him become the program's first Region Champion since 1983, and ended with him finishing just one win shy of a medal in Atlantic City. Another returner coming off a strong rookie campaign is Michael Palmieri, who racked up 24 wins in 2020. The athletic Christian Ungemah is a third sophomore in the upper half. He was new to the sport last season and will be looking towards big things in 2021 with the full year experience to his credit. There's another promising freshmen joining the mix up top as well in Davin Brewton, who is loaded with potential

Senior Daniel Brewton has averaged 20 wins a season his first three years. A District medalist back in 2018, he's capable of having a big year at 152 and gives the team a strong senior presence in the middle of the lineup. Other seniors up top include David Thomas, Scott Ungemah, Michael Nappo, JJ Lodato, and heavyweight Jake Louro. Louro showed good potential before an injury ended his sophomore season, and he missed all of last year due to surgery. If he can stay healthy, he could have a big year at heavy for the Caseys.

This looks like one of the strongest lineups that RBC has had in a while. You have to like that this program is getting more and more depth each year, which had been somewhat of a problem not too long ago. The divisional schedule is tough, but there's a hard working, enthusiastic, athletic group here looking to battle and test themselves. The upper half should be the strength of the lineup, especially since they have some flexibility in the lineup, but if the lower half comes along, the Caseys could pull off some surprises this season.
